Dean Ng and I met Anson Ng and the 好人好事 Hao Ren Hao Shi gang through a (still on-going!) project at Dover Park Hospice more than 5 years ago where they arrange meaningful outings for terminally ill patients and their families. The above are the words of deep gratitude from one of the patients.
HRHS also contributed to some of our events; distributing groceries and goodies bags to seniors and the underprivileged.
From being just a team of people doing good together, HRHS have evolved into an IPC status organization. The setting up of Happy Mart is just another of their recent contribution amongst the many other projects that they do.
The team came down in full strength even on the first day of CNY. The Mart was bursting with good energy. Those who were served collected their much needed items and most importantly, they left in high spirits too.
The Mart is an empowering and more sustainable idea. Instead of simply accepting whatever that was handed out, beneficiaries can now choose what they need with the monthly credits that they are furnished with. These marts have great potential to be powerful community spaces indeed.
It does take incredible amount of commitment and resources to pull this through. So congratulations and keep going strong with the great job HRHS and team of volunteers!
